Asus Eee PC 904 HD, First Eee PC with Hard Drive

2 November 2009 338 views 4 Comments

Asus Eee PCAsus confirmed the existence of the new Eee Model, called Asus Eee PC 904, the system will have the case of the 10-inch Eee PC 1001 but the 8.9-inch display of the 901. It will also feature a hard disk instead of a solid state drive that the other models feature, hence the HD after its name. The “HD” moniker also reveals a switch to hard drive storage away from solid-state drives; the leap will give it more capacity without affecting price.

The Asus Eee PC 904 HD is supposed to be priced under $500. As I reported yesterday Asus needs to get the prices under $400 to get back the appeal of the original Asus Eee series.

Most specifications for the system remain a mystery, though the 904 name implies it will be a close relative of the 901, which has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 1GB of memory, and in most versions will come with ASUS’ customized version of Xandros Linux.

Juliana Chen (Marketing Manager, Southeast Asia Sales and Marketing Dept., AP and MEA Sales Group, Asus Technology Pte Ltd), cannot confirmed the final pricing and when this model will distribute.
