AMD announced the availability of dual-core Athlon processor that is the latest Athlon X2 7000 series. In a press release released Monday, December 15, 2008, the first product from the Athlon X2 (without ending 64) is a series of 7750 Black Edition and 7550.

Compared than Athlon X2 before, the processor has an architecture similar K10 used in the range Phenom processor. From the features, different between X2 processor 7000 series with the predecessor, namely 6000 and 5000 series is DDR2 integrated memory controller, which is now officially supports DDR2 1066, HyperTransport bus, which has frequency of 2GHz, now increased to 3.6 GHz, and the presence of L3 cache 2MB on the 7000 series.
